SanDisk has announced the launch of its new media player, Sansa View. SanDisk’s latest product includes music, photos, FM radio and audio books, along with video transferring ability.
The Sansa View is super-slim at an astounding 8.8mm thickness and is available in two models: 8GB and 16GB, and is priced at $150 or $200 for the 8GB or 16GB models, respectively. The Sansa View also one-ups the 3rd generation iPod Nano with its microSD / microSDHC slot, which provides up to 24GB of extra storage.
Whereas the iPod Nano has a 2" 320x240 screen, the Sansa View has a slightly larger 2.4" 320x240 screen. However, the View's screen is wide-screen. As for navigation, the Sansa View relies upon a backlit scroll wheel.

SanDisk's offering supports H.264, WMV, and MPEG4 video playback at up to 30 frames per second, as well as DivX—if you use Sansa's Media Converter software. Audio formats supported include MP3, WMA, WAV. It also has FM radio and voice recorder with built in mic, features the iPod nano lacks entirely. In comparison, the Nano supports H.264, mp4, m4v, and MPEG-4 DRM-protected and homemade video. To use the SanDisk player, users need to have a Windows system with Windows Media Player to sync music and videos.
The Sansa View has a battery life of 35 hours for audio and 7 hours for video. Advertised battery life for the Nano is 24 hours audio and 5 hours for video. The View is only available in black, while the iPod Nano comes in five colors.
The Sansa View should hit retail stores anytime in October.
