Lenovo Blue Sky ThinkCentre A61e Solar Powered Desktop PC launched

Lenovo has launched ThinkCentre Blue Sky A61e, an ultra small form factor PC. Said to be the smallest and most energy-efficient desktop PC, the A61e can be powered by a solar panel.

25 percent smaller than the previous Lenovo ThinkCentre desktops, the A61e operates on 45 watts of power. It runs on either the AMD Athlon 64×2 dual-core processor or the AMD Sempron processor. It uses up to 90% reusable or recyclable materials as well as 90% recyclable packaging.

It comes packed with Windows Vista Business or Windows XP Professional operating system. The A61e includes a 4GB memory and an ultra-slim HDD ranging from 80GB to 750GB. It also has a low-speed fan for quiet operation.

The desktop goes over and above Energy Star 4.0 criteria with an 85% efficient power supply. It can help users save up to 50% in energy costs per year over previous models. It uses as much power as the three light bulbs in the picture.

The ThinkCentre A61e will be available in October for $399 (Mouse and keyboard costs not included)
