Motorola RAZR2 V9m mobile phone

Motorola today announced the sleek multimedia MOTORAZR2 V9m will be available in September. The MOTORAZR2 V9m is perfect for customers seeking a sleek, music-centric multimedia mobile phone.

The official product names of the phone will be "V9" (3G HSDPA), "V9m" (3G EVDO CDMA) and "V8"(GSM).

The Razr 2 is yet another flip phone, but it is 2 mm thinner than the first generation Razr. It is built using steel for the internal frame; aluminum, magnesium and plastic parts are visible to the eye on the outside. The casing of the phone is scratch-resistant, with the lens cover being made with chemically hardened glass.

At the core of each phone is a 500 MHz ARM11 processor, which is about 10 times faster than the original Razr CPU. It also has a 2.2” QVGA display (320x240 pixel), a 2-megapixel camera with multi-shot capability, 512 MB or 2 GB of integrated memory, a micro USB port support USB 2.0, Windows Media audio playback capability as well as 176x144 pixel video playback at 15 fps.

The device runs on a Linux/Java platform with a newly designed user interface that allows users to find their contacts faster than before. Equipped with external touch-sensitive keys for quick access to music, camera and advanced speech recognition and wrapped in cool stainless steel, the MOTORAZR2 V9m comes equipped with Bluetooth® stereo support for listening to music.

A bigger internal screen that enables full HTML web browsing, along with a best-in-class external screen that makes possible viewing media, music and/or messaging without opening the flip are the interesting features packed in the product.

Another attractive feature in the device is that users will receive touch feedback on the external screen thanks to the incorporated ‘haptic’ key technology.

AT&T and Verizon Wireless, a joint venture of Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc, both said they would start selling the phone in September for $299 to customers who sign a 2 year contract. Sprint said it would start taking telephone orders for the phone on August 22 and will charge $249 to customers who sign up for a 2 year contract. It plans to start selling the device in its stores on September 4.
