Nokia ships N76 clamshell

Nokia has started shipping the Nokia N76, a thin clamshell that's just 1.4cm thin and 115gm in weight, to key European, Asian and Middle Eastern markets and has tied up with Sony BMG Music Entertainment to bring the award winning music of Travis to new owners of the Nokia N76 in these markets.

















The N76 comes with multimedia keys on the top under the external, 1.4-inch, 160x128 display for controlling music without opening the phone. The N76 plays back MP3, AAC, MIDI and WAV formats. The internal display is 2.4-inch QVGA. The N76 is a smartphone running Series 60 3rd Edition.

Other features of the N76 include a 2 megapixel camera, 26mb of internal memory, a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot with support for cards up to 2gb, quad-band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, as well as 3G UMTS/WCDMA. Connectivity comes in the form of Bluetooth 2.0.

















Battery life is rated at around 2.75 hours of talk or 8.25 days of stand by. Less than 3 hours of talk time is not particularly good, but this is the slimmest phone from Nokia yet.

Consumers who purchase the Nokia N76 will have as part of the Nokia N76 sales package, a special voucher that gives the owners the rights to download 5 pre-selected Travis songs from the MSN music shops in their countries.


















Closer" the first single from the band's fifth studio album "The Boy With No Name" will be available for download when it is released on April 23, 2007. In addition, four further tracks selected from their previous four studio albums will be also be made available.

The N76 is expected to be available for 390 Euro (Rs. 22,500 approximately).
