Nokia has launched the Nokia N96 in India. The new NSeries Nokia N96 mobile phone will compete with the much hyped Apple 3G iPhone which was launched on 22nd August with great fanfare.
The Nokia N96 has a 2.8 inch TFT screen, 16 million colors display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It has a 5megapixel camera . The Nokia N96 runs on a Dual ARM 9 processor clocking 264 Mhz CPU speed. It has 16GB of internal memory. It also has a microSD card slot which supports a card upto 8GB. Applications on the N96 run faster due to the 128 MB RAM.
Other features include data connectivity options like EDGE, HSDPA, GPRS and bluetooth A2DP.
Video calling is possible with the VGA camera in front of the phone. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone socket which acts as a TV out. FM Radio with a GPS chip built in the phone, 3D stereo speakers and a lot of bundled data comes with the phone.
Nokia has provided a unique feature exclusively for the Indian users which is the Wave Secure security application – a backup system that keeps a copy of your data via internet and tracks the phone in case the phone is lost or stolen.
Other features include the WLAN, HSPDA, in-build 3D Stereo speakers, USB 2.0, GPRS, EDGE, Bluetooth, Video calling, FR Radio and in-build GPS system.
